Vizhithiru is the ongoing professional development project of Rotaract Club of College of Engineering Guindy . The career guidance program was started in the year 2002 by the name "Chennai 12".We conducted the event by the name “Panorama” in 2003 which was again a career counseling event for the XI and XII standard students of various schools and the event was always a success. Following the same tradition, we conducted the event "Panorama" in 2004. In 2005, we conducted the event by the name "Vizhithiru". The theme was the same career guidance but the students did not come to our campus. Instead, the volunteers of our club went to the various corporation schools across the city and conducted the career guidance program in the schools simultaneously.
Vizhithiru 2006 was aimed at providing guidance to students regarding the different careers they can pursue after their higher secondary studies. We arranged for professional speakers to provide the information to students. The toppers of higher secondary exams and TNPCEE who have joined our colleges interacted with students to give them a clear idea of time management and how to prepare for exams in a planned way.
This year, Vizhithiru was a full day event with two sessions for the students. The event kicked off with inauguration ceremony presided by Rtn.A.S.Venkatesh, District Governor Elect, R.I.District 3230. The first session was an interactive session in which a panel of speakers, who are experts in the field of Career Guidance, discussed with the students and answered their questions. Professor Mr. Sriram, HOD EEE Department, Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College spoke on the engineering and medicine streams. Mrs. Anuradha Mohan, from SCARF (Schizophrenia Research Foundation) gave an inspiring speech about health awareness and motivated the students. Mr. Mohammed Gauss, Chief Manager of SBI in Anna University , gave information regarding the various loans the students can avail for their higher studies.
Lunch was provided for the students. The second session was full of competitions like Debate, Poetry Writing etc for the students. They enjoyed a lot and prizes were distributed in the valedictory function. Nearly 600 students turned up and the event was a grand success.
